Established over a century ago this park contains historic buildings from around the area, including one that was on this site since 1844. The park sit right at the feet of the Houston skyscrapers and was saved from developers in the 1950s. It is a great place to sit and contemplate history. There is an Annual Candlelight Tour in the... We decided to walk around downtown Houston. We loved this historic park. The houses and church are all preserved from the 1800's. The highlight are Sam Houston's dogs. We definitely took pictures there. You walk all around and check out the fountain as well. It's a must visit in downtown Houston. It has beautiful views of the buildings.

The park is not a bad little park it is very small in size but does have multiple historic buildings. You are able to walk up and look in them an they are stayed inside. There is also a little pond and a lawn that people play on. Not bad to check out it you are just passing by

We stumbled across this little piece of history by accident. The houses we lovely and very well preserved. My issue is that to get information about the houses you had to call a specific number and listen to the recording. This doesn't work well for overseas visitors. Why can't there be plaques/signs outside each house with an overview of the... More

This isn't anything big or fancy, but it was green, had some beautiful flowers, and a nice statue of Sam Houston. We sat here while taking a break to eat our lunch while visiting the Science Museum.

The park is a nice place to unwind and spend time as it has a musem on site as well as old houses and churches that you can go up to and look around. It is also a nice place to have a walk around too, located next to the central library

Houston is very modern and does not seem to have a central downtown area. Sam Houston Park is in the middle of town and provides a lovely green space and historic houses that give the city a central base. The early history of the city is clearly presented and the information area is excellent. Take a tour is you have... More

Saw 7 houses from the 1800-1900's. My grandfather lived in a similar style home – although not as elaborate. If you have the time, do the historical houses tour. My favorite house was the Pillot House with its wrap around porch and of course the dogs that guard the house. The gazebo has red/white/blue stars painted in the lawn.

This park is near downtown Houston and contains several buildings of historical significance to the city. Parking is adequate and adjacent to the park. Organized tours are provided frequently and are very informative. All of the buildings were interesting but my favorite was the one room cabin. Very peaceful place in the shadow of a big city.
