Bayou Bend is the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's house museum for American decorative arts and paintings. Displayed in the former home of Houston civic leader and philanthropist Ima Hogg (1882-1975), the collection is one of the finest showcases of American furnishings, silver, ceramics, and paintings in the world. The house is situated on 14 acres of organically maintained gardens in Houston's historic River Oaks neighborhood.

A nice quick guided tour is available. The house furnishings are very nice -- mostly antique American made items. The gardens were quite beautiful. This is not on the scale of the massive Guilded Age homes of e.g., Newport Beach, Rhode Island, but I enjoyed...More

We really enjoyed our tour of the house and gardens. My husband doesn't usually like tours but this had so many charming details that we all had a good time.

Very interesting museum. It covers furniture and artwork from different eras of US history. We opted for the longer tour and it was worth the slightly higher cost. The gardens were very nice.

This place is magical and tour was very informative and interactive. On sunny day you can enjoy outdoor gardens and on winter days there is amazing collection inside the house.

We enjoyed our stroll around these beautiful grounds on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The gardens, fountains, trees and paths on this estate are so inviting as are all of the well placed benches and other spots for observation and contemplation.
