Roadside attraction kitsch meets historical monument. The kind people who staff the visitor center are earnest enough to keep tongue-in-cheek impulses in check, allowing you to get a sense of history along with snapshots and souvenirs.

Couldn't believe this statue - I hope our country doesn't decide he needs to be torn down. A fascinating person - Cherokee connections and a true believer in the USA.

Stop at the visitors centre to view this magnificent statue up close. The visitors centre has a washroom and shop and is quaint with a short trailing path to the statue. Well worth a 10 min stop.

Family fun, history, friendly people. Great for taking photographs. We had a 12 year old with us and she was spellbound and lived taking a picture in front of Sam

Quick stop for a little history lesson on one of the founding fathers of Texas. Beware of the gift shop. They wanted $16.95 for a small sticker. Also, the bathroom was not pleasant at all. Needs a little work. The statue was definitely worth seeing.

We stopped after going to Huntsville State Park. Nice and friendly people. The gift shop is a bit expensive, compared to others we have shopped. Great photo ops.

Quick stop here and wasn't disappointed. The statue is gigantic and impressive from the road and standing right underneath. The shop is very good but toilets not so.....

67 feet tall and on a 10 foot base, Sam Houston is hard to miss if you are on Interstate 45 about exit 109. There is no place to stop but can take exit 109 to Highway 40 east to Highway 75. You can see...More
