Last Sunday, a lovely March day, my daughter took my wife and I to Huntsville State Park. It is easy to find, right off of 45. The entry fee is $5 per adult. The area was beautiful - tall pines, some flowering bushes and some...More

What a great place to get away from it all! It's not too far from Houston, where I live, but just far enough! We went Sunday through Wednesday. When we got there we pretty much had a empty park and had every site to pick...More

Visited the Huntsville State Park (Texas) for family outing. Hiked about two miles on nature trail. Park has camping & RV sites, nature trails, water sports and small beach for swimming in the lake.

This park is a great weekend day trip for my dog and I. We walk on the trails, which are well kept, and enjoy the view of the lake. The park rangers are visible and keep everyone safe. The camping sites look pleasant, but I...More

In my opinion the park needs to be renovated a little bit. Restrooms that we used didn't have any soap and the hand dryer was not working. Also everything inside the restroom was very old. The playground was ancient: wooden slide and rusted swings. And...More

Not too far to do a quick camping trip from Houston. The park is pretty well kept and there are tons of trails! Have fun geocaching, enjoying the water and nature. Nice place to take photos and have some fun exploring.

I was at this park to take part in a 50 mile race. The trails are just gorgeous and well marked, and some lovely views.

Camped here twice, once in covered shelter spot, once in heated shelter spot. Both were great. Clean bathrooms (no kidding!) beautiful campsites on the lake. Friendly staff. Trails well marked. Great facilities for groups.

Great outdoors is close to civilization. Rangers helpful as are other staff and volunteers. Amazing trails to roam by hundreds of miles. Water sports, trails and camping to your heart's content.

We had visited during winter where it was much quieter though the weather was perfect. You can spend a whole day here and relax. You can rent a canoe and/or paddle boards and walk trails with options of how long you want to hike. Some...More

There is a netted beach area. The fish swim all over and fine to eat if legal size. Yes there are wild critters in the woods & water. Alligators are not friendly and tend to avoid adults. Learn and research them and... More

Headed up this Tuesday with my grand kids for a few days of camping during spring break. What is a good time of day to check in if you want a good selection of available spaces? Don't want to go too early or get there too late. Also do they sell firewood or have some for visitors?

Seems like we arrived at 8 or 9 am on a very busy weekend, and we easily got our top choice for campsite. They do have wood for sale at the park (reasonable pricing) and actually prefer you buy it there ca bring it in.
