This was a really nice surprise. For ten dollars total, 2 adults enjoyed a guided and informational tour (practically a private tour) of two homes of Sam Houston, enjoyed a brief but interesting video, checked out a lovely small museum. The grounds had mini trails and roosters, squirrels, birds galore. It was easily a two hour plus visit. I highly... More

We went through the park behind the museum. It was so nice and we enjoyed it so much. Buy some chicken feed and feed the wildlife. It was so interesting and so beautiful. There were some baby geese and chickens.

You don't have to leave the comfort or safety of your vehicle to see this beautifully carved headstone. Peaceful setting. Glad we got to see it.

Great place, fair amount of walking but well worth the time. Went through the museum and his home with other out buildings.

All the houses that Sam Houston lived in are so cool. My kids loved looking at each one and taking pictures by them. Definitely some cool photo ops. There are a few audio parts of the tour that are cool. The grounds are very pretty.

We thoroughly the museum and all the historical buildings surrounding the museum. The grounds were neat and tidy. We soaked in lots of Texas history. Great place to visit.

Watched a short video of Sam Houston's life from youth to adulthood. Learned lots of facts about him that I was unaware of. Then toured the various buildings, two of his former homes etc. Finally toured the museum which is divided into three sections detailing the three periods of his life; childhood, the early formation of Texas, and his political... Went with my child's 4th grade class as a field trip. The students rotated through four of the buildings, each with a guide dressed in period clothing. The grounds are immaculately kept. There are chickens and roosters roaming around. The students were served a sample of Dutch oven popped corn after they visited the kitchen building. This was a fun,... More
