Nice cemetery and well maintained. Interesting history. Got out of car and walked around to see dates and names.

Beautifully maintained and hauntingly historic, we went to find Diamond Bessie's small fenced grave on a sunny October afternoon. We made gravestone rubbings with charcoal and sketch paper and drove all around, finding the veterans' area and many old monuments. We felt transported to a very different time among the not-so-recently departed.

Large cemetery with many headstones from the mid 1800's. Several famous Texas leaders and CW veterans.

It seems a bit strange to review a cemetery. However, since I'm a repeat visitor, it is appropriate I suppose. I was here for the same reason that others flock to this cemetery. To see Diamond Bessie's final resting place. There are markers and descriptions on a few of the gravesites to reveal a bit of history. Besides Diamond Bessie's... More

We enjoyed looking for & finding different graves of previous Jefferson townspeople. We had a book, written by Mr. Whitington, sold in almost every store, that explained who they were & their contributions & stories of Jefferson. Very interesting!

Beautiful, serene cemetery. Very patriotic markings. The Jewish section was neat to see -- not sure I've ever seen a Jewish cemetery.

A cemetery that features unique headstones and statuary from a bygone era. One cannot help but slow their step and feel a moment of quiet reflection, as the trees gently rustle nearby. Diamond Bessie's gravesite is the number one attraction, of course, and be sure to get a book about her (from the Jefferson Museum) tragic murder before paying a... More

I'm what people call a "Tombstone Tourist" as I study cemeteries across the state and write about them. This cemetery has been on my "to visit" list for a while, and now I'm just sorry I didn't make the effort to see it sooner! Beautifully maintained, wonderful monuments, historic markers and "residents" and some great stories behind the stones. A... More

As far a Cemetaries go, this one was very nice. We even found Diamond Bessie's grave! A must see, but when it's not hot weather!
