Can't believe all the neat things in this place. My favorite was the old handicap wheelchair and the civil war items.

We entered thinking it was a museum to the history of the area. It is 4 stories of collectibles from dolls to arrowheads, medical devices to era clothing. The ladies running the museum are friendly and answered questions to the best of their ability.

The $7 per person adult charge is well worth the money. We spent a couple hours going through the four floors and found the displays informative. Overall, a great place to go to learn a lot more about the history of the Jefferson area.

Very nice place, lots of info...an hour well spent. The woman at the desk answered questions and knew where to look up the things we asked that she didn't know.

Had seen this a couple of years ago. They have a variety of things to see; Civil War memorabilia that is one of a kind and poignant. Their model train exhibit was wonderful. I have thought about this place many times.

New to East Texas and locals from Tyler suggested I go the Jefferson Museum on my next day off. The museum is easy to find and parking along out. $7 adult cash or credit for admission. I watched the 4 suggested videos which I enjoyed before touring the museum at my leisure. There is an extensive collection to view and... More

The Jefferson Historical Museum offers a short walk through history with Civil War Collections, Indian Artifacts, early Texas & Pioneer implements & textiles. Upon entering you pay a small fee (at the desk to the left) for this self guided tour. You are given a laminated sheet with a list of exhibits on each floor, which you return after your... More

Housed in the former court house building this is a four story museum (3 stories and a basement) which has a wealth of local artifacts, including a surprisingly large art collection donated by current and former residents of Jefferson. Out behind the main building is a very impressive HO gage model railroad housed in its own building. The layout in... More

We did a self guided tour of the museum and were amazed by the amount of items they have. Jean was friendly and informative.
