It’s a covered hole, you may miss it if you are not looking. Weird and creepy side stop. The hole is covered so no one can fall in, and there is a historical marker telling the history of the hole.

I discovered Dead Man's Hole while driving down the country road taking pictures of beautiful wildflowers in the spring. It is an historic site in Texas a few miles south of Marble Falls. It is a hole in the ground that is very deep where...More

Not well marked from 281. Area unkept. Kind of creepy area but nice piece of history. But mostly just a marker.

There are no signs from 281 guiding you to this historical site, nor are there any as you get closer on the local roads. If you don't plan ahead and check out the directions, you won't even know you passed it. When you do find...More

Was recommended by our hostess at the resort. Interesting bit of history. Not hard to find and not much to see, but do a bit of research on the web to get the full story.

This is an interesting spot to see at least once. It has an historical significance from the early days of Burnet County that can be instructive. Take CR401 to the east from US281 (south of Marble Falls) or north from TX71 just east of the...More

I wouldn't make a special trip just for this. But my 8 and 9 year olds loved the story and history of this cool hole!

Stopped here on our way out of Marble Falls. Interesting story but not much to look at. The marker is on a paved road. Watch for the sign or you will pass it.
