We stopped out here at the designated viewing platform located half way between Alpine and Marfa. This is a well designed, free viewing area, with clean restrooms and comfortable seating. There were maybe thirty there the night we visited, and we stayed for about 2...More

One of the strangest things to experience are the Marfa lights. There is much mystery around these random lights since no one knows what causes them. Head over to the viewing station and watch them for yourself. There are restrooms, seating, and telescopes.

We went with low expectations after reading reviews that seeing the lights isn't always 100% guaranteed but as soon as we walked onto the viewing platform there they were. They're indescribable and something everyone should see. We only stayed about a half hour because there...More

Ok I'm a natural born skeptic, so I wasn't expecting much, maybe a silly light or two Or something created by some attention seeking human. I didn't know much about these light until after I saw them. 3 of us went, including my daughter who...More

My sister and I saw the lights one evening when there were lots of visitors there. How do you explain seeing one light moving randomly, then branching off into two lights, sometimes even into three randomly moving lights?! A couple of days later on our...More

My wife and I drove out there at dusk, sat in the car and drank a beer until dark, then put on our jackets and walked out to the viewing area. There were several folks doing the same, or who parked facing the lights and...More

We arrived at the viewing area about dusk with our fold up chairs and blankets. We saw our first light about 10:15 and we watched with until 11:00. We saw many lights that evening! Crazy cool!

After reading reviews and listening to others who have been, we drove out to Marfa to experience the 'lights'. The reviewers and towns people said to be patient. We got out there around 9:00 pm and waited, along with about 50 other believers. We stayed...More

There's lots of chatter about what they are. I still don't know! We went at night and then again the next day to make sense out of what we saw. Still don't get it!

Is this station open to the public all the time or does it have specific hours? We will be in the area around New Years day and was wondering if it would be open.

It's open all the time because it is basically a roadside park positioned to give a good view of the lights. The lights come out at dusk so don't go there during the day.....you won't see them then!
Can you stay in RV overnight at this site?

I don't recall any overnight parking or RV sites. Marfa isn't far, however, and you could stay there.
Are the roads to the viewing area dirt or paved? Is parking paved?
