Definitely MUST see when you are in Athens. Only about one hour by car along nice coastline. Amazing, peaceful view. It was not crowded at all but probably because we visited it out of season (February).

Sounio and the temple of Poseidon was our choice for a half day tour and let me say we made the perfect choice. We took tours n transfers hellas to go there and they were great. We stopped in different places on the way there and then we stopped to eat fish at a fish tavern just below the site... More

We grabbed a cab here from our nearby hotel to see the sunset. It's a very picturesque spot although it was unsurprisingly rammed with people. Regardless, it was a nice place to visit and take in that stunning coastline.

The Temple of Poseidon is an impressive temple. The ruins have been reconstructed enough that you can really "see" the temple. It was a stunning temple with a stunning view. It was a long bus trip from Athens, but worth it. This was both a military site and a religious site, so the combination was interesting and the views all... More

My girlfriend and I went on a day trip from Athens to here and absolutely loved it. The bus was hard to find (just up the road from Syntagma Square, with an unhelpful bus timetable) but worth it when we got there. The site is incredible, right on the coast looking out to see and very spiritual also. We caught... More

Visited Cape Sounio just shortly before sunset on a winter evening. It was worth the drive and the sea view under the shade of the ancient temple of Poseidon breathtaking. The only dissapointment was the poor self service cafeteria facilities. For a place of such unique location was expecting something better. The restrooms though were of high hygiene standard.

Pretty cool place with a nice view of the sea and Attica coast. This must be my favourite historic site in Greece.
