The historic centre of Trujillo is very nice and surrounding the plaza mayor. It is very old and still with the old streets, which are going up and down, nice to walk into but think about the fact to put your walking shoes on before...More

Off the beaten track for English tourists, but this is where many of the South American conquistadors like Francisco Pizarro (1471–1541) hailed from. Loads of history here and loads of value for money restaurants. Parking is free, mostly in side streets south of the town.

A beautiful place to base yourself to explore the fabulous area - especially is you like birds. Sat in the square with a drink you are treated to a display from lesser kestrels who hovered above us.

We love Trujillo, walking up to the top via the quaint little old streets is not too strenuous (we are in our 70s) and the view from the there is amazing. All of old Trujillo merits gold stars!
