Unexpected pleasure, a waterhole in West Texas. This is in an urban wildlife preserve around a Playa type water hole. Best for watching and learning about nature and its adaptability. A slow walk around the all-weather paths and decks will bring a lot of unexpected activity all year round. Pause at one of the bird blinds or the Hawk Tower... More

It's hard to find water and greenery in this desert climate. I love to come out here every chance I get. I also love how it's always changing. Everytime I have been out there i discover something else. My only complaint would be that there are not enough benches or shaded areas for quiet reflection. Also the noise from the... More

You will think you are in a national park somewhere. You need to visit and see for yourself. Saw eagles, ducks, many fish varieties and a good paved pathway.

Really not much to see here, grass land and a few birds in the air. Did not spend too much time here due to the wind.

There are very few green places in Midland. However, this refuge is filled with the changing color of trees & plants. The colors against the reflection of the water, the movement of water fowl, rabbits, birds, etc. bring one back to nature. There is a wonderful butterfly garden, as well. It's a place of peace and getting close to nature.... More

Very beautiful scenery, very well put together. Very enjoyable for toddlers as well which was a huge plus, will definitely be going back soon! Only thing it could use would be a vending machine.

A little oasis in Midland. Depending on the weather, or recent weather, you will see lots of wildlife and the mile and a half walk around the playa. There are a number of bird blinds and feeders that allow you good opportunities to see all types of wildlife. Just a good place to spend a couple of hours.

Visited as family with teenagers. Lots of small wildlife animals, and great variety of plants/trees/flowers/etc. The entire trail is pretty long, so suggest you take advantage of the stop/rest areas to just enjoy the view, and read the descriptive signs. Very quiet area, which was surprising since it is close to the Interstate. Restrooms at the entrance only. Made for... More

This is like a hidden gem. When you get there and start walking you forget that you are actually in Midland (some parts you can see the interstate). It's very nice and relaxing.
