A charming museum featuring local artists as well as sound classical and contemporary Western art, the Museum of the Southwest is a Charming place for both adults and children with a special museum for children. On the grounds is the Blakemore planetarium as well. A finf for family or people alone. Monthly meetings of interest and shows that change every... More

Christmas at the Mansion is being held at Museum of the Southwest this holiday season. The museum is beautifully decorated with many Christmas trees and exhibiting 30 years of Santa paintings by Bill Keen. Food and drinks were being served, wonderful night catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

We recently visited the museum of the Southwest in Midland. The paintings on display are great and enjoyed seeing the Kentucky Derby items. The observatory had several broken displays and needs attention. We were disappointed overall.

We have been going to this museum all of life but they have updated it a ton and change out exhibits often. From science to history and art they will have fun with all the hands on material.

This is a great museum for adults and children. The adult exhibits change periodically and The Children's Museum always has something fun going on. It's located in a beautiful old mansion...which has a very interesting history! In addition to the museum itself, they host lawn concerts every Sunday evening during the summer months and SeptemberFest, an art and craft festival,... More

The house is simply an art gallery. There were a couple of other buildings but did not look interesting. We were not provided a map so not sure if missed anything. It was Saturday so the Farmers Market helped with the atmosphere.

The Sunday evening Summer Lawn Concerts are so fun. It has usually cooled off enough and most seating is in the shade. Pack up a picnic, a nice bottle of wine, your lawn chairs and come enjoy the fun. The FARMERS MARKET is on the museum grounds during the summer, too. Saturday mornings at 8:30. Go early so you don't... More
