A fun place to visit - plenty of shops to browse and restaurants to enjoy. Head down the hill to see the beautiful Guadalupe River, have a beer or catch some music at Gruene Hall. (Watch John Travolta's movie Michael before you go!)

Great place to visit, and even better for date night if youre a local. There are some great must try restaurants, such as Gristmill, and mozies. If youre a tourist, Gruene hall is a must. But weekends, especially in the summer or when someone nationally famous is playing, the place is chaos. Im not saying it isnt worth it-its an... More

There a few nice restaurants and many antique and collectible shops to choose from. There seems to be ample parking in lots close to the center of the town. Picturesque location with lots of shade trees and on hill above river passing below and West of town.

Gruene is a fun little historic town on the outskirts of New Braunfels, Texas. There are lots of restaurants and little shops housed in the old historic buildings. We spent the better part of a day browsing the shops and having lunch. Be sure to take in the old dance hall where you can hear live music most nights of... More

This is a beautiful old and historic district, where the folks are friendly, and the buildings are interesting. There are a few places to eat, among which is the Grist Mill. It was a beautiful old cotton gin remodeled into a restaurant overlooking the river. It is a place to behold while enjoying good food and a beautiful view. There... More

We eat here often and are always happy with our food. However, my overall favorite selection is the Fried Shrimp. We once lived on the Gulf Coast and we know good fresh shrimp when we find it and the Grist Mill serves the best in this part of Texas.

We came by in the morning so we parked on the north end and enjoyed coffee on the patio of the Coffee Haus. From there we were able to walk a loop of the district, look at stores and be awed at the size of the former gristmill. There are terraces and lovely patio seating there for food but we... More

This is a small German town with interesting places to visit, they have a great tubing area that takes you down the Guadalupe. The Cotton Gin which is converted to an outdoor restaurant is a must to try at least once during visit.
