We visited over Easter weekend from Katy. It was just over a two hour drive to get there. It's a very small, simple park with only 15 sites. We parked our RV there. There's electricity and water but no sewer (there is a dump station). The sites are all treeless (and shadeless) and mostly sand. But there is plenty of... More

Inexpensive access to the Gulf of Mexico. Friendly staff and clean restrooms with access to the Gulf. Plenty of space to drive right onto the beach. We only paid $6 for day access for our family of five. Many different options for coastal access. Our family loved it here!

Out of the way small state park so go with provisions as no stores nearby. On the Gulf of Mexico. Has 15 campsites mostly pull thru, few back in. Paved with water and electricity. Dump station is down the road outside of park about a mile, not very handy if staying extended period. Small grassy areas around sites are kept... More

Close to home and not crowded. Whether it's a just a quick trip or for the weekend it's a nice spot right on the beach. Be sure and pack plenty of food and necessities cause it's a nice jaunt to the the local store. The bayou nature trail is fun and offers wildlife from birds to alligators which our kids... More

If you are looking for a place to stay a few days and be open to allowing your senses to take it in you will enjoy. Get a feel for what an unspoiled and undeveloped portion of the Gulf Coast can be. The campground facilities are very convenient and well maintained.

Spent 4 hours here in March. What a change! Pit toilets instead of johnny on the spots. Nice camping areas and camping on the beach. They now have a small headquarters building. Beach was clean, and this is 3 days into spring break. Very few people. Rangers nice. Price $3/adult. Nice wooden boardwalk to get to beach and 2 areas... More

This park is right on the ocean so we walked along the beach for a while. This was on Thursday and there were very few people around so I found many beautiful shells including angel wings which I had never seen before. We walked on the boardwalk through the marsh and saw an alligator and a lot of ducks and... More

The beach is pretty empty this time of year. Only 3 other vehicles there, mostly friendly locals. But THERE WERE SO MANY SHELLS! I've never found so many in Galveston or Corpus Christi! And many of these were not broken! So many color variations. We also found fish bones and a stingray carcass (we're scientists, so we thought they were... More

Lovely, peaceful beach. Enjoyed walking on the beach. Almost had the beach to ourselves. Enjoyed walking on the boardwalks and seeing the birds. Alligators were seen by others but we missed seeing them. Great place to visit.

Beautiful setting with excellent access to beach and coastal swamp habitats. Take food and beverage with you as not much available for many miles.
