The lighthouse marks the "downtown" area of Port Isabel and announces that fact in a perfectly majestic and stately manner. It's nothing special as lighthouses go, but I would definitely miss it if it were no longer there as its iconic presence symbolizes a seaside vacation is in the offing as the structure comes into view after a long road... The reason this one only gets 3/5 was the lady running the lighthouse appeared to be surprised by my arrival. She was not at all helpful or informative and she gave me no indication I was welcome. I wanted to see all 3 sites that are offered, but she made no mention of how to do that or anything. Sorry... More

I like lighthouses but can no longer climb them so from the outside this wasn't a particularly impressive one.

If you can walk the stairs to the top of the Lighthouse, do so! ( It's a lot of stairs!) However, the view from the top is spectacular! We have done these stairs many times and it is well worth it just to look around and see everything!

Smaller than I expected, with less stairs than I imagined, but if your afraid of heights...like I am...it's a great conquest & your rewarded with a great view from the top.

Went to this to see the history of the lighthouse. The balcony was closed however you can go up to the very top to see everything.

It was worth the few dollars to be allowed to go up too although it's a lot of stairs to climb and my legs hurt afterwards. We did the combined museum package for entry into two museums so it was definitely worth it.

Very fun, the view from the top of the light house was beautiful and the museum had a lot of information and history in it. Very entertaining for not being in tourist season.

Very nice lighthouse, but this was not one we were willing to pay to go upstairs. Guess the town has to make money anyway they can. Great view from the outside. Nice quick little stop to make.
