Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds-- For rehabilitated sea turtle and hatchling release text message notifications, please see our website membership page. See you at Sea Turtle, Inc.!

We were very glad to visit the turtles for our fourth year. I was very excited to learn they will be opening a new building in January of 2018! Congrats on the new building and we look forward to seeing it next year!

Wow what an amazing place to visit whether you are young or old. Very education about sea turtles and how we impact their world. If you happen to be on the island when they release baby turtles into the sea, don’t miss it !

We went right before heading back home you can spend about an hour there. Small place, informational for older kids, maybe 5 and up. The store there has nice items for sale and the money goes towards a good cause.

As a native of the area, when friends visit we always stop by. It is a hit for the kids, it's shady and it's informative.
