We drove the scenic drive in a rental car and enjoyed every minute. The road is a bit rough in some places, but not as poor as we expected. You must drive slowly, and choose your path carefully to minimize the bumpiness. The road takes you close to the buttes, and there are lots of places to pull over and... More

We visited Monument Valley in late June. We had our dog with us, so we paid the $20 and toured in our own car. We were given a map, and followed the very bumpy and dusty road, but our Subaru Outback did great. We stopped for a few photo opportunities, sticking to the designated route and stops, and it was... If you are wanting that "famous" view from the road you need to be coming from Utah/ Mexican Hat. On this road you will be driving along turn the bend and BAM there is that stunning view with the long stretch of road wit the monuments in the background. There is a spot where you can pull over and get... More

We had our own truck. $20 gets you a day pass and a map of the route. You must keep on the road, no hiking or driving down side roads. The drive takes you down and amongst these huge rock formations. The road is very bumpy, rocky and dusty. The folks we saw in the open air buses looked miserable,... More

Most people will take the 17 mile self drive tour which during about 2 hours will take you pretty close to most of the main attractions of the valley. You may be longer if you want to really take in the many tremendous views and/or get stuck in a queue of slow moving traffic. If you want to get off... More

This is a gorgeous place. We took a tour which I would recommend as the roads are pretty rough to travel. Go out early morning to enjoy the sun on the monuments.

One of the best places I've ever been. You can take any car on the drive, just make sure you take care and go at a sensible pace.

Absolutely stunning place and without a doubt a place to visit and well worth the $20 entrance fee. The views are priceless. We were there as the sun started setting, all I can say is WOW. We took our SUV along the 17 mile dirt track which really gave you the feel of the place.

Thank Pete B
