With the fall colors, this was fabulous and there was a lot of different terrain to view. Only issue was that so many people were disregarding posted signs and parking alongside the road. This was both dangerous and annoying. But totally worth your time.

This is a very nice drive. Don’t rush, stop at some of the provided stops, and either take in the views or check out some of the many trails. You can mountain bike many of these trails or simply hike them. You don’t have to go far to find amazing views and peace and quiet. The actual drive is not as intimidating as some people lead you to believe. Again, just take your time and enjoy the experience!

Newly paved. Accessible with vault toilets here and there. Parking is a problem if you want to hike. Go early and go slow. Oct 3, 2022 is perfect for leaves but another fellow said they would “peak” in 10 days.

The road passes through luxury ski resorts to beautiful views at the top of the pass. Continue on to Salt Lake City through spectacular Big Cottonwood Canyon. It’s well worth the drive.

Beautiful drive. Intersects Big Cottonwood Canyon Road (190) at Brighton. Map shows it's north of Park City - not correct. Big Cottonwood Canyon is better drive. No signage for trails. You will see several cars parked along drive - trails there? Do homework before you go.

The most beautiful drive. Can tack on to a hike on Blood Lake or we drove on our way home from The Falls near Sundance.

Absolutely beautiful!! 360° views. Lovely place for a picnic or a family photo. Easy drive and not crowded the day we were there.

The drive is indeed gorgeous, but as the road became narrower and narrower at the top, it made me extremely nervous. If you are not afraid of heights, definitely go for it!

Can you use a razor on guardsman pass side by side

It's a pretty tight, two lane road without much of a shoulder. I would go single file.
Can you use a side by side on guardsman pass

Guardsman Pass is a paved two lane street that runs through the mountains. I am not aware of restrictions if there are any but I would think that it would be dangerous to use a side by side because of the cars on the road.

Any places to lunch along the way???

Yes plenty of them. There are not any restaurants if that is your question. I would suggest stopping by Legers sandwiches or even better uptown fare for a lunch to go. These are both in Park City. Once you are in Guardsmans pass you will see several spots for a great picnic.
When is scheduled opening for guardsmen pass this year

I don’t think they have a scheduled time. It depends upon the snowpack and melt.

It is a beautiful location. I would imagine if you asked the Huber City people. You would have to truck everything up there. I would only attempt this in the summer.

About how long is the unpaved portion of the road? Is it graded gravel or real rough?
KMcoloradofamily

Paved but very narrow in spots. On the way to Brighton (past the pass) there is one curve that was pretty damaged (with graded gravel surface) and only passable by one vehicle at a time. You just have to watch for oncoming traffic and take turns. This spot was only about 100 feet or so long and passable in a regular passenger car. The Brighton route takes you through nice national forest scenery all the way down to Salt Lake City (eventually running into 215 beltway) Alternative route is to go toward Midway into Heber Valley and hit the main highway (US 40) back to Park City via Kearns Blvd or I-80.
