We spent several hours at waterfront park. There is a lovely dock to walk along and lots of green space to put a blanket down and have a picnic or just read a book. The water being right there makes it even more beautiful. After...More

A lush green park, well kept. Nice place to relax and sit around. You can admire the views of Lake Chaplain also from here.

This beautiful park in the banks of the Piscataquis (sic) River is an awesome place for live music. It is very cheap, just suggested donations, and alcohol free. Great spot for music in summer nights for people of all ages. Another terrific side of Portsmouth.

This park is a popular place. There are lots of trees for shady places to rest or picnic, running/bike paths, big swings to watch the sunset, and beautiful views of Lake Champlain.

Bikers, runners, strollers, walkers, picnickers, relaxers! We started up above in Battery Park where we viewed a few memorials, then found our way down to Lake Street, past what looked like an interesting performance venue with lovely flowers, then down to the lakefront to watch...More

Walked around down here a couple of days I was in Burlington. There's a lot of places to sit and hang out. The swings are great. Plenty of places to stop into. The crepe place down there had live music. The aquarium is right there....More

Visited waterfront park to view Lake Champlain. It was a sunny day so the views were beautiful. Nice place to walk around and many photo opportunities. Parking is tough, and paying is strictly enforced. Make sure to get parking pass as soon as you park....More

My first visit to Burlington is coming up. I have heard the Waterfront is THE PLACE to go when visiting the city. Is Waterfront park a good place to start?

Yes, but also make sure to visit the Church St Marketplace too.

Are the photos of the boardwalk with the pretty lamp posts and the lighthouse in the distance likely taken from Waterfront Park? If so, would it be a long walk from the parking area to where this photo was taken? And is it possible to just drive through the park? We will not be able to spend a lot of time there, and will be towing a small cargo trailer.

I agree with all the other folks who are answering this question. The Waterfront walk is very simple and can be completed in easily 1 hour, if you took your time and take photos. I did not see any pull along campers or such... More

No. Not at all. I would not allow my children to get that far down on the bank. There is an "Ethan Allen" boat ride. And a museum of sorts. But really it is a casual walking spot with plenty of grass for a picnic.
