... cannot be a better tour of the North East Kingdom (NEK) that includes Lake Willoughby after Brownington on the way to Saint Johnsburry. We return north via Peachem then Currier General Store in Glover, Parker Pie for a wrap up to a wonderful tour.

Most beautiful lake and mountains. Water is crystal clear and refreshing. Some of the beaches are pet friendly.

Even if you have time only for a drive-by, you must go! Lake Willoughby is absolutely beautiful! There is a small general store for snacks, etc. Don't forget your camera!

Always a great time to visit the lake, whether it's for an afternoon swim on a hot summer day, or for a photo shoot at sunset the area does not disappoint.

A great place to visit swim and hike. Stay at the local inn, and hike one of several mountains around the lake. The lake is colder than most lakes because it is very deep.

Foliage was out of this world, the lake was so peaceful. Sat by the lakeshore with a bottle of wine to watch the sunset. Pretty much perfection.

Gorgeous, rustic remote area of Northeast Kingdom. Lots of outdoor activities. Beautiful scenic lake surrounded by mountains.

Westmore is the small town that is on the east side of the lake. The road is Route 5A. But there are a lot of small towns in the area which are not too far from the lake. This means that there are choices in where to stay... More

Is there free camping allowed? (Being able to pitch a tent anywhere, possibly on the beach, and not having to reserve/ pay.) Thanks!

I don't know much about where camping is allowed. There is a map online under Willoughby State Park - Primitive Camping. You should find this for better information and regulations. The areas along the road on the east... More

Can we rent kayaks or paddleboards to use on Lake Willoughby? If so, do you have any recommendations for stores and what are the prices like?

There is an RV camp area with a camp store across from the "marina" (if you want to call it that, actually a small area with lots of smaller boats) and they might be able to help you if you are in the area. Otherwise we have... More
