Founded more than 50 years ago by a group of local artists, the cultural center includes a beautiful Georgian mansion that showcases changing exhibits, the Arkell Pavillion, a performing arts center and the Elizabeth de C. Wilson Museum, which houses the center's permanent collection of more than 700 paintings.

Beautiful setting. Interesting sculptures on the way up the long winding driveway. Two buildings full of art. Tiny gift store. Artists scattered around the grounds painting. I live about an hour away and have traveled thru Manchester many, many times. Can't believe I never "discovered"...More

After visiting the Hildene House in Manchester, we spent some time in the Southern Vermont Arts Center. We happened to be there at a time of a wonderful glass exhibit. This center highlights the work of artists from Vermont.

Our guidebook directed us to this center for the arts in Southern Vermont. On a beautiful tract of land in the Green Mountains, the exhibits of local artists' work and the inspiring setting are worth a visit!
