We listen every morning to the "Eye on the Sky" weather forecast so a trip to the Fairbanks was a must. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to see the special exhibit, but we did see the lovely planetarium show which happened to be about nebula. The Fairbanks is someplace we will come back to so we can see more.

The Fairbanks Museum bills itself as a natural history museum but it is so much more. Just the architecture alone sets it apart from its peers. It is like stepping back in time as you wander through the soaring hall replete with balconies filled with quaint exhibits that look like they haven't been changed in 100 years. My favorite will... Second time we been here. Find the exhibits fascinating. Lots of birds, who knew there were so many. Bug art, the most fascinating of all. The building itself is beautiful and the many exhibits there are quite diverse. If you are in the area, you MUST make a point to stop in and check it out.

This museum was created by the son of a wealthy entrepreneur who travelled the world and continued to expand his Victorian "Cabinet of Curiousities" until it outgrew the cabinet, then outgrew a room in his mansion, then eventually he build an entire building to house it. It is now a museum that is fascinating because of the content from a... More

Quite a varied collection of history. 2500 different mounted birds. More hummingbirds than you have ever seen. Fairbanks, of Fairbanks scales, was very inquisitive and collected things from all parts of the world.

This was a fun way to spend a couple of hours. There's lots of taxidermy & our little guys loved the stuffed bears and the play area. It's a great little museum. We went to the planetarium show which was good. Would definitely recommend.

This historic property is located in downtown Saint Johnsbury just off the confluence of I-91 and I-93 in Northern Vt. It is a wonderful personal collection of a wide range of insects and stuffed mammals beautifully presented in custom cases and a for purpose built property. It is up-dated with a small hands on interactive learning area. This property hold... More

This review has to be brief. Just want to say that we thoroughly enjoyed this place. We stopped on the way from a NH motel to a VT one. LOTS of exhibits about animals and birds - lots of taxidermy. The architecture and style of the museum is old, but a real pleasure to be in - unique. Perhaps the... More

The museum is small but has a lot to see. It's a small town museum with a lot of history and the person greeting us had a lot of knowledge about the museum's history. It was so nice to just spend some quiet time looking around. The Planetarium was really interesting and we enjoyed it very much. The show was... More

Our family vacation to Northern Vermont was one of complete relaxation and getting away from the busy schedules of our lives. One of our two road trips was to the quaint hamlet of St. Johnsbury, Vermont. A wonderful walking town filled with small shops, galleries, and local attractions. One such attraction was the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium...and it did not... More
