See a Blackbird, a Concorde, the Space Shuttle Discovery, and many many other really great original planes. We did a free two hour tour which was brilliant, a very knowledgeable guide. Well worth the trip out to the museum, near the airport

What a beautiful museum and a good location for folks staying in the business corridor. A quick trip can suffice but there are tons of planes to see. Sadly I didn't get into the Space exhibit as it was closed on the morning I was...More

My friend and I visited on a Saturday afternoon and were amazed how uncrowded the museum is compared to the one on the Mall. The displays of aircraft, instruments, and related items are awesome. There are firsts, like Langley's unwieldy plane competing with the Wright...More

Awesome experience...I highly recommend. We had so much fun looking at all the airplanes! We also saw the Space Shuttle Discovery and the Ebola Gay. We saw a helicopter that went around the world...the Concord....a Tomcat...an SR 71....and sooooo much more!

We visited there for the lunar eclipse bad the traffic was insane. Thankfully we already had glasses and found other things to occupy our time while we waited for the eclipse. Parking is $15 (I think) but they accept credit cards.

I get chills every time I visit. I learn new things each time. The exhibits change so it keeps it interesting. The SR 71 Blackbird is such a beautiful aircraft and I learn more about it every visit.

Hello. Really do not know about day trips, as I visited from out of town also. There is several types of transportation available to IAD, and the museum is very close by. I used Lyft several times, including using them to... More

It would be a minimum of $30-40 one way. Traffic depends on day. It can take 40-60 minutes on a good day.

It depends on a few things: 1. How important is it for you to see a space shuttle? The Hazy Center has the shuttle Discovery. 2. Where are you staying and do you have a car? If you're staying downtown with no car, then... More
