Plan for a full day if you want to get the full experience here. The exhibits are simply massive and have a ton of info any aviation buff will appreciate. There's a McDonald's inside the building for lunch. Admission is free, but parking is $15 (cards accepted).

While my husband attended a meeting, I went to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum only because it was convenient. I didn't think I'd care for it and my attitude was "Yes, I like to fly for travel." Little did I know how many historical planes were there - the Discovery Space Shuttle, SR71 spy plane, Enola Gay, the Concorde,... More

While visiting with our grandchildren on the Christmas Break, we spent the afternoon here. Of course, there were lots of other folks visiting as well, since school was out and it was a rainy overcast day. The place was large enough to accommodate all the folks so that it didn't feel crowded and we could visit the exhibits and stayed... More

When in the DC area, this is a must to go see. Love the IMAX theater and the Enola Gay is worth the trip alone.

Super kid-friendly, could spend hours touring. Great place to visit, particularly on a cold or rainy day.

I had been to the DC numerous times. This blew that away. It covers history of flight, war planes from several nations, and the space program. There are gliders, uniforms, and engines too. The 7th floor tower gives an amazing view. I am not an aviation person, but was awed I saw in the 3 hours there. The gift shop... More

This place has a lot of everything. Guns, missiles, full planes and the space shuttle! So many things to see that it's hard to mention them all!

The Udvar-Hazy Center is a great day spot for families where its big spaces allow for kids to run around in between taking in some great exhibits. The space room is sure to please younger kids. Highly recommended for a rainy day in the DMV suburbs.
