The scenic drive from Williamsburg to Richmond along Virginia Highway 5, or the James River Road, is overgrown with history that dates to the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, from Lighthorse Harry Lee to Robert E. Lee. And there are so many wonderful mansions, including Shirley, Berkeley, Westover, Sherwood Forest and Edgewood. We've visited all of them and none... More

Thank you Dot for another wonderful visit. You are truly an amazing hostess, as always. Although only 30 minutes from Richmond, it's like being whisked back in time where everything is grande and elaborately done, yet amazingly cozy with complete relaxation. Maggie and I had the most amazing girls weekend with you. With all the stress I'm dealing with, I... More

This gem in the heart of plantation country is right in my own back yard and still I've never been through it. Dot the owner will give you her story, the house story and the history story. She delights in sharing all her information. The spring plants on the property are surely a sight to see but the website photos... More

I placed my Brother and wife here when I didn't have enough room at my place at Berkeley Plantation. The owner treated them and the rest of my family like family. We had a family breakfast there too.

Great tours. You must go at Chrismas. Every room is decorated. Love to hear Dot telling the ghost story.

Dot, the owner and tour guide was super! Down to earth and very informative! This place has so much history related to the civil war times!!! The owner has her own personal and unique stories about the location as well. The way the story unfolds is truly a GEM! I usually give more detail in my reviews but I do... More

Dot makes this tour feel like a visit with an old friend. She is warm, inviting, and very passionate about her home. You feel the excitement of her discoveries at this old house as if experiencing them yourself, as she relives them through her vivid stories of how she acquired and renovated the house into what it is today. The... More

This is by far, the best house tour I've ever been on. Dot gives the history of the house and goes into detail in each and every room. She has painstakingly decorated every bit of it to period detail. Each bedroom is more beautifully apportioned than the one before. These rooms are able to be rented, and I think it... More

We went on a ghost tour covering Shirley, Berkely and Edgewood Plantations. Edgewwod by far was the highlight of the tour. Dot is a wonderful storyteller and hostess, and the plantation is absolutely beautiful. Well worth it, looking forward to returning for an overnight stay.

Visited several years ago, beautiful place and your imagination can run wild. I'm always thinking of Gone With the Wind in a house like this one. The Inn Keeper is very nice, and told a story that was both scary & funny, Seems a woman who once lived there pined away for Civil War soldier. So happens a Civil War... More
