Read Mechams's book and then come to Monticello! A frustrating genius and a father of our country but it is clear from his stairs and other details that he never carried a bucket, candle or child up the stairs. Love his genius but really wonder...More

So extremely educational. A Real Virginian place to visit...even if you live local. Also, has Michie Tavern, Carter's Mountain Orchard with great Apple and Peach Doughnuts and Ciders.

Minimum 2 hrs to tour the mansion and the grounds. You can spend an additional hour at the visitor's center. If you like hiking, you can add more time to walk their trails too.
Do they decorate for the Christmas season?
