If you're going around the Charlottesville area to visit wineries, I can't recommend First Colony enough. Their wines are really good - and not just, "good for Virginia" - they're actually good! The location is beautiful (and conveniently located right next to another winery, though...More

My friend and I had a great visit! While my friend may not have the refined pallet of serious connoisseurs, she knows what she likes. After all, isn’t wine as personal as food? Some things appeal to you and others don’t. Not every wine can...More

This was not our first visit but it had been a while since we were here. Given the frigid temps, we stayed inside but have enjoyed a picnic lunch in their side garden area during a previous visit. First of all, kudos to our tasting...More

The winery staff person was friendly and engaging. We enjoyed seating outside with our food (yeah, outside food is allowed!) and the glasses of First Colony wine we purchases. We saw buses stop by, but the winery can accommodate large groups and couples.

The staff is outstanding. They gave us a private tour after our tasting and we got to see the destemming operation and taste the grapes just picked. The wine was very good.
