We visited on our last day . Spent an hour of quiet time. They have a scavenger hunt. Interesting to learn the history of the area and all about Misty. We purchased some books and shirts. All people were wearing a mask. Good for the whole family.

This was a great place to spend an hour on a rainy day. It provided a unique glimpse into various aspects of the region's past, and had a variety of artifacts, memorabilia, and interesting stories.

Great place to stop on a hot afternoon!

We stopped in this museum as our other idea wasn't open. It was a total surprise by how much we learned in this museum. We enjoyed seeing the real Misty and Stormy from the famous books. There was a history of the island and Pony Swim. One story we found interesting was about James Alone. Another component that was interesting was the houses of yesteryear and what stands in that place today. We all enjoyed the museum. We picked up an autographed Misty book and movie. I recommend taking a look in the museum. We noticed that young children had a clipboard with a seek and find activity for the museum. It excited the children around us.

Take the bus tour!
Jul 2021
Little museum, but holds a wealth of information about the town's history as well as Misty of Chincoteague. A must stop. Although not advertised in the museum, be sure to get tickets here for the historical bus tour!

This was a really fun way to spend a couple of hours, immersing oneself in the lore and history of the island! A bargain at $5! Plus you get to see both Misty and Stormy!

Great local museum
Jul 2021
This is a great local museum that gives a view into the life and history of Chincoteague. Our grandchildren had a great time with the scavenger hunt around the museum. Hint: One item is outside the main building. Friendly staff.

Went here with my 7yo when the 3yo was napping. They had a kids scavenger hunt that she enjoyed. Also got to see the taxidermied Misty pony. Affordable for adults and free for kids. Altogether a good way to kill an hour on a rainy day. And the docents were wonderful!

Very interesting and full of history

Showcases the varied history of the island, and of course Misty of Chincoteague. My 10 yr old had a really good time with the scavenger hunt and the museum held her intertest for a good hour.

My granddaughter and I were impressed with the quality and organization of the exhibits that spanned from ancient fossils to modern times. Friendly, knowledge locals, with a love of the area.
