There are LOTS of options available if you just want to go have a picnic on the property, take a short hike (the shortest were around .5 miles) or a long day hike if you're up for it. The views are impressive no matter where you go, even if just along the fire road. We took a short hike since... More

This is one of the best places to take a hike about an hour away from Washington DC. The trails are clearly marked. There are a variety of trails with different elevation changes and lengths and lovely views. There are even benches at various points where you can take a break, have a picnic or just enjoy the view. If... More

This State Park was awesome and I will definitely be going back. It costs $5 to enter/park and there is a nice parking area plus overflow parking. As it was an unseasonably warm, the park was super crowded (especially when I left). I opted to do the Piedmont Overlook Trail which was very steep but the views were awesome. I... More

Stopped in after going apple picking near by just thinking the kids could run around, not knowing it was such a beautiful historic area with so much to do there. The kids learned a bit of history, got to enjoy so Eagles and got to run around!!

Easy parking near trails, with some historical buildings nearby. We took a relatively short morning hike up a well-maintained, shady wooded trail and then back down through an open field with beautiful views; however the park includes many additional longer trails, including a connection to the Appalachian Trail.

We stopped here on our road trip. This is a great Virginia State park. We had a wonderful hike. The trails are well marked. The views are wonderful. The primitive campground looks like it would be awesome (especially in the fall). The staff at the visitors center were very helpful. And the cows were so welcoming!!

The park is quite large, on the side of one of the beautiful rolling hills between Interstate 66 and Route 50 at Paris. The entry fee per car is four or five dollars, well worth it. Very helpful staff, well-kept trails with no litter. Several wonderful views over the countryside. It is easier to make long hikes than one can... More

We hiked the park when the leaves were changing and it was a beautiful day. The trail is not too difficult but it has a few hills that make it enjoyable. It's well marked and we saw and heard quite a few birds. There are a number of events at the Mt Bleak-Skye House and everything is very well maintained.... More

Sadly, the day I picked to hike and explore this little gem turned out to be unseasonably cold, dreary and wet. I still went in and walked around the historic area, which is a treasure trove of history from the past of the area. There is a well-preserved complex of house and outbuildings that offer a window into what a... More
