We went by the visitor's center, where they have a lot of information on the high bridge, including models. They told us we could drive to a parking area .9 miles away from the bridge and the walk there was totally flat. So we tried...More

Great park for biking or walking - you can easily access the bridge within walking distance if not biking the whole park from the River Road lot ($4 parking fee). Definitely worth a visit if in the area. Park staff were very friendly and informative.

There are actually many access points to the trail but definitely two closest to the bridge on either side. Thank you for sharing your experience in a review. I hope you will be able to come back and enjoy more of the trail.

I was shocked to find Trip Advisor has High Bridge located in Green Bay, VA. Everything I read about the bridge including how to get there referred to Farmville. The Norfolk Southern Railroad donated 31 miles of their track to Virginia in 2006. In 2012...More

Hop on the beginning of the trail in Burkeville and head west towards Rice, then on to Farmville where you can access High Bridge State Park. Crossing High Bridge is amazing, especially after learning the history of the bridge itself. The entire 3- mile trail...More

High Bridge Trail State Park is well maintained, beautiful and historical. When you visit, if you don't have a lot of time, use the Paradise entrance! When you enter via Paradise there is small parking fee ($3 I think). One of the best places to...More

Parked at Green Front right across from the Trail and rode my bike to and across the bridge, and back, about 5 miles each way. Plenty of places to stop and rest along the way, and an actual bathroom about 1 ½ miles from the...More

I have ridden this trail three times now and enjoyed it each time. The path is crushed stone and plenty wide enough for two riding a bike abreast. The elevation is essentially flat, so appropriate for beginner bikers. We like to start in Farmville proper,...More
