Stopped in here a couple of times on our trip to Virginia. It is a really nice visitors' center; sunny, bright, full of information. Being from south Mississippi, I was pleased to find an avid LSU fan working here. She was so friendly and helpful!...More

I admire the handy-work of early Americans. The original house is beautifully restored, down to original wooden floors. Lady was friendly and very helpful with info in the visitors center.

Nice way of presenting a visitors center. Very nicely maintained. Nice little gift shop. Best maps of the town and area stores. Glad we started our tour of Harrisonburg. Very nice downtown as well.

When we travel we almost always check out the visitor center at our destination. The Hardesty-Higgins might just be the best we have ever encountered. This is a delightful find! There's so much history here. Originally the home of Harrisonburg's first mayor, the lives of the house's occupants provide a history lesson. Now housing the Civil War Orientation Center and the Valley Turnpike Museum, both also provide valuable historical information....More
