POINT OF HONOR which derives its name from a duel in front of the house, is part of the Lynchburg Museum system. We love to visit historical houses and sites, and have been to many famous ones. This house has been painstakingly and lovingly restored. It compares more than favorably with those recognizable sites. We have been to the house... More

I went over the Christmas holiday to see the Victorian decorations. Admission was free and we went in small groups. The first room we saw was a sitting room and there was live period music which was lovely. From there we moved into, the dining room which was set with a Christmas meal. We moved into a bedroom and then the... More

Today I had a tour of this home led by Emily. What a wonderful tour and wonderful restoration! I learned so much about the historical aspects of this house and about the family of physician Dr. George Cabell, who built the house. I would DEFINITELY recommend you see this house and learn about the history of Lynchburg. This home is... More

As is sometimes the case, what was once a rural home surrounded by nearly 800 acres of cropland is now surrounded by an urban neighborhood. Though a little difficult to reach through winding streets, visitors should not be discouraged from visiting this interesting plantation house. The staff is friendly, the tour is very complete, and the interpretation at the small... More

This mansion offers tours of the house and has good views of the city. It's only $6, a good deal! Tours start when they get people.

Really nice restored property. Had an interesting and enjoyable tour with our guide, Emily. Even though it was not her usual job, she was very knowledgeable about the house and contents. The tour was excellent value at only $6 for adults.

We visited during "Day at the Point", an annual event. What fun! This is a great way to see what life was like . The house would be a compliment to other visits to Lynchburg's historic sites. Admission is free.

Thank You for visiting during Day at the Point! It was our 19th annual fall festival and we have vendors, food, kids games, bands, bake sale, antique cars, and so much more. This is one of very few days in the year that we open the house for free. More

I had never heard of this place until I visited Lynchburg and accidentally found it, they were having a special Fall Festival day so we were unable to tour the entire house but the free tour was well worth the time.

We were more than pleasantly surprised by the quality of this historical site and the tour. Our guide (Tom) was excellent. The tour provided a very interesting context of both the history of Lynchburg, as well as the families who resided in this home. There was plenty of time for questions and discussion. The site was convenient, easy to locate,... More
