You can walk up onto the porch and around the grounds to take pictures as it overlooks Lynchburg. Beautiful setting!

We spent a couple of months in Lynchburg Virginia, January and February, checking out the area, enjoying the historic sites, the people, and mild Winter weather. Point of honor was recommended to us as a must see place to visit and we agree. I found the story about how it got it’s name very interesting. It was located outside the City limits and 19th century gentlemen in Lynchburg used to location to settle disputes of honor. They have a small gift shop and the staff and tour guides are very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.

I have been to Lynchburg all my life to visit family members and have never had time to stop at Point of Honor. We were able to stop by this morning and really enjoyed our stay! Our docent was GREAT and answered all our questions. He made sure that my children (16 and 11) enjoyed their stay and pointed out items that were of interest to them. My mom was in a wheelchair and could not make it in the house. She really enjoyed staying in the gift shop reading books during our visit. Stay was about 45 minutes.

Only remaining plantation in Lynchburg downtown, the building has been restored and while it is fairly typical for this time and area, the highlight is the dining room that features a nice wallpaper featuring all the Paris monuments.

Wonderful, interesting place to visit. The docents are knowledgeable and make the home and time of history come alive. Great gift shop. Only negative is that some of the guides are pretty fussy about the kids touching things.

My wife and I had seen Point of Honor on one of the trail signs and it peaked our interest . We had decided to walk the Blackwater Creek Trail from the Ed Page Trailhead down to Lynchburg and saw that it was near the trail. We stopped in and enjoyed our visit. The tour was like stepping back into the early 1800's. We were amazed at how well the home had been restored. Our tour guide gave informative insights on what life would have been like in that time period. If in Lynchburg, well worth the visit.

I visited point of honor 14 years ago and again recently, and it has significantly improved. The place gives good examples of architecture, decoration, and general daily life in moderately wealthy home in the 1810 to 1840 era. Very Interesting.

My friend and I were undecided about taking time to visit Point of Honor, but we were so glad that we did. Built in 1815 by Patrick Henry's physician and triend, the house if filled with interesting stories. I have toured many historic homes of this era over the years, but our splendid guide (Christian) shared information and insights that were new to me. His enthusiasm for his subject added so much to our experience. If you are in Lynchburg, put Point of Honor on your "must see" list!

We enjoyed the beautiful wood and plaster work in the home. Our tour guide had excitement in his voice when he was telling us the history of the home. We love to tour the historic homes and hear of their place in history and the stories of their owners.
