If you are around Midlothian area you should spend an hour or two exploring the park For all four seasons you can take walk through the woods and around the lake. It’s about little more than 2 miles of great running/walking trail. No matter what season you will find beautiful views around the park

Very nice surburban park and a place to find history of local coal mining. Off the beaton track we found a field of blooming orchids. Please do not dig up because they never survive transplanting.

This is my favorite walking route. We live nearby so it's a quick walk to the park and then peacefulness reigns. I find this walk very relaxing as we walk the park from end to end, take the tunnel under the road and then walk around the small lake. The area is very picturesque and there always seems to be... I walk to this park from an adjacent neighborhood 4-5 times per week. the park is well maintained and has a great l walking path with lots of natural wildlife around the lake. The outside amplitheatre is made of a stone with the lake as a backdrop. Concerts here are really nice - wish there were more! there are a... More

On the site of the original Virginia coal mine, this park has some ruined buildings and facilities from that era with good informational displays along an easy walking trail of around one mile round trip. Across the road is another easy and more picturesque walking trail around a small man-made lake.

Always some people there so you aren't alone. A good way to exercise your dog too! Plenty of parking.

This is a great place to walk your family or your family pets. My dog LOVES coming here. My mother and I come pretty frequently to get some outdoor time for the pup. Lots of ducks and geese live here, so be careful with children and pets around mating season. The grounds are well cared for, and there are delicious... More

I was excited to come here originally because I thought I would get to see some cool mining things/buildings. They have a really nice replica mine shaft lift and then there two "buildings" that are falling apart and fenced in (apparently they've been fenced in for quite a while). So if you are coming here to see stuff like that,... More
