My family and I enjoy hiking on short , well marked trails and there are many to be found in this park. Huge and beautiful park with many trails. Everything from 360 degree views, a waterfall, to “wild” free roaming ponies. Every employee we met...More

I ran a race here and got to explore probably 80% of the trails in the park and this place is a wonderland. It's been a week and I'm still dreaming of Grayson Highlands and planning my return trip. Ponies, cattle, endless views, fir trees,...More

Grayson Highlands State Park is a destination for my heart that seems a bit odd. I grew up in Michigan, yet it always feels like I'm going home when I'm headed there. I think its because growing up, my best friend had a huge ranch,...More

One of my favorite Virginia State Parks! The hiking is stellar. The views are spectacular. With great camping and horse back facilities the Park offers so much!

This park has to be one of the finest around. Between the fresh air, mountains, trails(including the AT which runs through it) and ponies, there is enough to keep you occupied for days.

If you travel Interstates, Grayson Highlands is probably off your radar screen. But if you like the backroads then take a trip down VA 58 and visit Grayson Highlands SP. It is well worth the windy road to get there. The park has some great...More

We can during the off-season . Honor box by the front gate. It was an extremely foggy day for us. The visitor center was closed, being off-season. We did do the Twin Pinnacle Trail, 1.6 mile loop. Again heavy fog so views were limited but...More

Wilburn Ridge is the best spot. The ponies roam a large area so you are not always guaranteed to see them but you usually can in that area.
