About
The Natural Bridge Zoo Park is and always has been privately owned and has never accepted any sort of federal, state, or local funding. The Natural Bridge Zoo opened its doors to the general public in 1972 and has been growing ever since. The main purpose for Natural Bridge Zoo has always been the propagation and rearing of threatened or endangered species. We try to offer students and the general public the opportunity to learn about the living animals, birds, and reptiles that share the earth with us. Many children have little or no contact with natural living things in their daily lives. While television programs are educational, there is nothing like standing next to a giraffe, getting nuzzled by a llama, hugging a baby dromedary camel, or gazing into the eyes of a huge white tiger to make you feel and appreciate our wonderful world of animals.

Kids didn’t want to leave!
Jun 2021
The family had a great time. The kids loved the birds and the monkeys. We loved the giraffes. The family actually got to ride an elephant! The park was an easy walk. We went later on a week day and seemed to almost have the place all to ourselves. Buy the feed! The park could use a little sprucing up but its easy to overlook a little faded paint when you see the smiles on your kids faces!

Cleanest Zoos ever
Jun 2021
My wife and I like zoos(mostly my wife) and we have to say that this is one of if not the cleanest zoos we have ever visited. The animals seem to have more then enough space and appear to be well cared for. great place to visit.

Bills itself as a research and breeding facility. I have my doubts.
Jun 2021
Animals and birds are not housed in a replica of their natural habitat. Tigers pace the same route and have for years, elephant stands in one place and rocks back a forth, except when people are allowed to ride the elephant. I would not go back.

Horrific
May 2021
The only improvement that could be done is to shut this horror show down. The animals are living in small filthy cages and the poor elephant should be in a sanctuary, roaming and socializing with other magnificent beings. The owner has been approached many times and asked to give the animals proper homes. He's been cited for squalid living conditions for the animals. It's all about greed and money. Let them live their lives in their natural habitat instead of this nasty, disgusting hell hole.

Rude elephant handler
Apr 2021
Visited this zoo last week. Husband and I were excited about an elephant ride! It is $15 per person BUT you cannot ride alone. You have to pair up with another member of your group! The ticket says that the rides are offered to give the elephant much needed exercise and stimulation, yet we were told that you cannot get a single rider because it is too much stress on the elephant. Because it was a slow day, finally the caretaker of 'Beautiful' offered us to ride alone so that we could videotape each other. We were grateful...until... The loop was a total of 30 seconds, literally. The handler was an older, angry and ornery man who had no customer service skills, was rude and wanted nothing to do to help educate about the elephant...I felt so bad for her. I was asking questions and he abruptly answered. He clearly wasn't there for the animals benefit or for any customer. During my speed loop, my husband was standing on the outside of the safety fence taking a video and the man yelled at my husband to back up, which he immediately did. The man continued 3 more times to tell him to back up!! Then in front of me said, 'at least I do not have to tell my elephant 3 times to do anything!' I told him he was rude and his behavior inexcusable! Furthermore, my husband is slightly hearing impaired from his military service. If you want people to stand 15 feet from the fence, make the track smaller or move the fence out to where you want people to actually stand. Overpriced and not fun! The other animal were clearly stressed and unhappy. I highly recommend the VA Safari Park down the road (next to KOA). It was clean and the animals were amazing (and happy).

Not A Good Experience

The Zoo Needs Mates For Several Animals So Their not so sad and sitting there alone doing nothing. Elephant look sad had No Other Friend and Isn't fair to be caged and even more so alone! Some of the monkies hard No Friends Or Partners he or she sitting there sad looking around. The Bear's was beautiful and one followed me from each side of the cage which Mind You Is Way To Small For These Two Big Bears and Nothing For Neither to Do.The One Enjoyed My talking to it I stood there for Hour keeping it clam and it enjoyed my company looked at me twice with those sad eyes! Alligator that poor thing has s Very Very Small Area in the Wide Open Sun No Trees Around For Sale or to hide just a Small Water Hole To Get Wet! It Needs ALot More Room and Places For Sade.
Wasn't Impressive At All For The Price Its Way To High In My Opinion A Whole Family Would Cost A Fortune. The Gift Shop The Prices Are Also Way To High The Economy Has Went Down So Should The Prices.
If,your disabled like myself and my husband the walk around isn't easy to visit all of what animals they have and More Monkies and Llamas than anything else!
Natural Bridge Zoo Needs A Big Up Grade On Animals Mates For Lonley Animals Alone In A Cage 💯 Sad.

Not as humane as I had hoped...
Apr 2021 • Family
We did have a nice time, beautiful weather and not crowded. However, we were particularly struck by how small the enclosures were for the animals. We did enjoy feeding the giraffes, they were very receptive.

Easy and Pretty Cold Weather Friendly Jaunt
Feb 2021 • Couples
I wouldn’t exactly call this a hike but an easy jaunt + 137 steps from the Visitors Center to the Natural Bridge and a pretty waterfall at the end. Total round trip of two miles. lt’s a really neat formation and lots of other interesting things in the area.

Cute little zoo
Nov 2020
Although this zoo is not big by any means, my sister and I found it to be a cute little zoo and we were happy that we stopped by. Just feeding the llamas, camel and three giraffes made our day.

Horrible

Horrible!

Don’t waste your money! This place is in humane and depressing you clearly can see the living space is too small and that they have barely any water for these poor animals. The only reason I feel anyone would give this place more than one star is they know the workers or they all happy they got to touch and play/show clout with the animals UNLIKE AN ACTUAL ZOO WHERE THEY KEEP THE ANIMALS SAFE
