I took a two week Spanish course together with my girlfriend starting near from scratch, during the course we were in a homestay. Our teacher Gerald was by far the best language teacher I ever had, including all my high school teachers. In only two weeks he took us to a level way beyond what I had ever dream of... More

I have had classes for 2 weeks in Casa Xalteva as a beginning of 4 months travelling in Central America. Because the groups are really small (I was with 2 students in total) the teacher knows exactly what you (don't) know already. After 2 weeks in the perfect atmosphere where everybody is relaxed and kind, I was released into the... More

Great atmosphere, nice project! It was great to practice my spanish and in the meantime learn a lot about Nicaragua, its people, culture and cuisine. Sergio (my teacher) was awesome and its lessons were so much fun! I would recommend their Spanish classes to anyone and I hope I can can come back to this place one time. Next time... More

My Spanish improved more than I could have expected during 2 weeks of classes and homestay which made the rest of my travelling in Central America that much better. The instructor was patient and helpful, while making the learning fun. I had 3 classmates from different countries and walks of life. We had great class conversations in spite of our... More

Used these guys for through an extension of a Nicaragua volunteer trip. Loved them, they help you find a place to stay and offer cheap guides to the top spots in the area. The staff is hilarious, insightful, and extremely helpful.

I first came to Casa Xalteva in 2007 with my university to take Spanish classes. It was my first time abroad (around 19 years old) and fortunately my time at CX was so amazing it only increased my desire & confidence to continue traveling. A year later I returned to CX, and enjoyed my second set of excellent, encouraging, and... More

I had one of the best weeks and a half of my life in Casa Xaltvea! I spent the mornings learning Spanish and found that my Spanish improved massively! The lessons were engaging and the normally boring things such as grammar were made fun with games and songs etc. I also really liked the fact that our teacher took us... More

I traveled to Granada by myself and put all of my trust into Casa Xalteva for airport transportation, homestay, tours, and just general guidance throughout the town and the country itself. Their organization and communication exceeded my expectations, and their inviting nature into their school and small community made me feel like I had a second home in Nicaragua immediately.... My family and I spent 3 weeks taking classes at CX. I will share my views in 3 parts as I think there are 3 distinct parts to our experience. Homestay - we stayed with Zoila. She has a large extended family that lives with or beside her all were friendly and helpful. She has 2 rooms for students; I... More

Dear Robin M, I am delighted you have such positive things to say about our classes and homestays, two of the most fundamental aspects of the services we offer at Casa Xalteva. Classes do sometimes head out around Granada, putting Spanish into practice is a major part of our methodological process to ensure the real immersion experience, but we strongly... More

This was my second summer to attend Casa Xelteva for Spanish classes but have attended Spanish immersion programs 7 times since 2008. I came back solely to attend classes with Maria. She is the best Spanish teacher I have had in any immersion program. If you get her, know she will challenge you when she knows you know how to... More
