Great architecture

Okay, I'm an old churches guy...like a moth to a flame. Nice, smaller church worth stepping inside for photos, and, of course, to pay respect.

Well, on my 5th time in Bacharach, I finally went into this church. I wish I had gone sooner. Not big, not overwhelming, but a very nice church. Nice organ, interesting pianting on one of the walls.

It is a simple but beautiful church in a very attractive town. Don't miss the ruins behind the church.

Protestant parish in the center of town which was built at various periods beginning during 1100 and was completed with the church tower in the 14th century. Has some beautiful medieval fresco paintings and some interesting tombs of medieval knights and noble families. Very beautiful church to see and if you're there, step inside and check it out.

The church was only a few steps from my hotel and in the middle of the town, so I passed it several times a day. I could hear the bells chime throughout the day. The exterior is beautiful from every angle, but I especially liked to include the Wernerkapelle or Alte Haus in my photos as well. The interior is... More

The church is located on the marketplace of the historic town of Bacharach am Rhein. It's in the hart of town, surrouded by lovely buildings, restaurants, cafes and hotels. Next to the church apath leads up to the Werner Kapelle, a mysterious ruin, overseeing the river Rhine, go even further up and you will come to Castle Stahleck, a youth... More

It's kind if amazing when you look at this beautiful church and realize it's the 'new' church that replaced the old one when it burned down. The remnants of the old one are still there - just behind on the hillside. Both are amazing pieces of history.

St. Peter is a typical example for the Rhine valley churches of the late Roman period completed in 1269. The latest great restauration inside has been done between 1992 and 1995.

This was originally a Catholic church but became less ornate during the Reformation so the interior is a little bland and id done in a combination of Romanesque and Gothic.

This church is a delight, not just in the way its fine style dominates the town but in the surprising iconic diversity of its interior, right down to the beautiful organ. It is a pleasure to allow its bells to regulate your day and its light and spacious serenity to regulate your contemplation of where voodoo crosses into art.
