This was a pleasant afternoon spent walking around the trail and seeing all the animals playing and eating. We went towards the end of the day and the animals were waiting for the employees to feed them, so they were all out and about. I...More

The park was sectioned by differing areas of the world. Patrons walk around the park and see the various wildlife indigenous to a specific part of the world. It seems interesting that certain animals may not be present, at zoos, at times. There was an...More

Although there are not an abundance of animals, the animals AT THE VIRGINIA ZOO are worth a visit. You will especially love the tigers, giraffes and bears. But my favorite is the stately little meerkat. The habitat for each of the groups of animals, close...More

Always enjoy checking out local/close zoos when traveling. Drove from Nags Head, NC, for a day in Norfolk. Only able to see half the zoo. Reptile building under renovation and Australia exhibit closed, Asia and Africa exhibits OK. Zoo train not running. Limited concessions. It...More

Got the year pass when we moved here and loved it. Took the kids constantly. Pass paid for its self quickly and we really enjoyed our family outings. Clean, well laid out, and tasteful exhibits make this an easy pick for one of the best...More

Enjoyed the quiet. Nice to not deal with summer crowds. Zoo staff very nice and helpful.. A lot of construction going on and some exhibits closed. Animals minimally active this time of year, but still an enjoyable visit.

I take my great-granddaughter often to the zoo. She loves to see the tigers, lions, giraffes, red panda and the monkeys. A male lion cub was just born. They are rebuilding the reptile house. It should open soon. They just set up the rhinos enclosure....More

There is ample free parking available. The staff is very friendly, many greeted me as I was walking around the grounds. My only disappointment (not the zoo's fault) was that I went on a cold day and many of the animals had more sense than...More

The Virginia Zoo is a well maintained and continually expanding small sized zoo. The zoo is essentially built in a large circle. When you enter there is a large central area with water fountains and a small zoo train that gives short tours around a...More

Spent the day wandering the zoo, with a large crowd as it was City Employee appreciation day. The paths are well set out with lots of activity stations that left plenty of room for the crowds. Enjoyed the animals who were playing up for the...More
