This was a lovely find. The walk to the cross was thoroughly worth it. Hidden huts and shrines on the way with amazing views across the mountains. It is cool amongst the trees so despite the number of steps, it wasn't too taxing a climb....More

the forest is very cool due to the very large trees and has much moisture in the soil. Great for strolling in the summer, along the various paths. Has many species of trees and shrubs, many of which are exotic. The hotel is architecturally very...More

It is a real nightmare to get all the way up to the Buçaco Hotel/Palace - neither do GPSs know about it, nor there is clear signage until you approach Luso! To reach the building, you must go into the woods, the park is magnificent...More

Absolutely worth it when visiting - lots of shrines along paths and great views from the top. The stairs were also lovely viewing. Not at the top of my all time hiking list, but one of the best aspects of Bussaco.

I loved the forest trails even more than the famous cascade stairs. The free map isn't clear at all.

Not far from the University city – Coimbra you must go to Buçaco to see one of the most beautiful world forests. After a walk have a drink or a meal in the charming palace hotel. Enjoy!

We really enjoyed walking the grounds of this beautiful forest. It is a real treasure, with rare exotic tress, wonderful walking paths, and there are even so geocaches if you enjoy geocaching ! The grounds surrounding the palace are a must! Allow at least an...More

Walking through the forest was surreal. On the way to Cruz Alta, make sure you pop into the abandoned house by a cross for a great view of the palace and the surrounding mountains.
