My husband loves to drink Port and when we cruised on Holland America into Porto we knew a distillery had to be on the excursion list. We did a lot of research and found out that we could book directly with Sandeman (send them an email, they respond within a couple of business days). I gave them the port tasting... More

It was 10 euro for a tour and 2 tastes of wine. The guide takes you through the chilly cellars of the winery and tells you some brief history of the wine and how Sandeman came about. It lasts about 30 minutes and then you get to taste 2 wines. The good things: Free wifi 2 tastes of wine History... More

Wot he the €10 euros admission for the classic tour. A walk round the warehouse with a short video. Two glasses of port at the end. Ours were a white and a tawny. Good value. There is a shop at the end if you want to buy more.

I was reluctant to visit Gaia (aka port wine row) because 1) it looked a bit too touristic and 2) in America, most port is foul! I decided to check it out because when in Porto.. We walked over the bridge (check out all of the crazy young kids doing trick jumps into the river, don't forget to tip them!).... More

This place seemed to have English tours running back to back, so easy to walk up & get on the next one coming up without waiting long. This was nice although the groups tended to be very large (not my preference). The guide spoke good English & took about 30-35 min (including the short movie)& then however long it takes you... More

The tour is okay but a fairly typical wine cellar tour. The cool thing is they have the guide dress like the Sandeman logo. We did not care for the port that we tasted at all.

We enjoyed tasting the port here and having some lunch with great wine. The day we were there was raining, but didn't matter, sitting under the umbrella's with the view was well worth it.

I really enjoy learning about local wine, whisky, gin or in this case port production. This was also the reason why we did this tour of the Sandeman cellar. The tour was good and the guide was friendly and answered all questions visitors had. The video at the end of the tour is a bit old and should get updated... More

Informative tour, very reasonable price considering you get two small glasses of port wine to taste at the end. The lady manning front desk on the 30th Dec deserves a special mention as well - she did her best to get us a booking on a tour despite most tours being full. All in all an enjoyable visit.

Porto, Portugal is the home of port wine and therefore it is fitting to tour a port facility and taste the different varieties. This was an included activity for our bus tour, but something that we would have done on our own because of the regional importance of port. Our tour guide was very fluent in English, as she took...
