A myriad of narrow cobbled streets, some of which are traffic free, interspersed with many buildings of architectural interest, leading to the impressive Plaza de Vazquez Molino lined by 16th Century palaces and churches. Despite concessions to modern day life many of the buildings maintain...More

This is a smaller city with not as many tourists as nearby Cordoba or Seville. Nice to wander around the old town and admire the architecture and take in some of the local history.

The Plaza Vazquez de Molina is the heart of this the historic town and is surrounded by a most impressive range of classical renaissance churches and palaces. A UNESCO World heritage site, it is the sparkling jewel in the crown of Ubeda. Much of what...More

To even touch the surface of the many places of interest in the historic centre of Ubeda you need quite a lot of time. We did not manage to do justice to more than three sites during a morning visit, having spent quite a time...More

We learned that the town of Ubeda goes way, way back to pre-historic times and has had Roman, Muslim, and Christian domination through the centuries. Because the 1500's and 1600's were so prosperous for Spain, much money went into the buildings during the period of...More

I know its a bit hokey, but the tourist train does an excellent job and taking you around the historic area and the many backstreets. Even if you don't understand Spanish, just the 45 minute ride is interesting and worth the 4.50 euro.

Besides the large Andalusian towns, Ubeda and Baeza are certainly worthwhile to visit. The collection of renaissance buildings is amazing. And in October there are few visitors so we could take all our time to admire the many treasures that these little towns contain.

Definitely worth stopping on route to other larger Andalucia towns. The historical centre is lovely to wander around.
