Charming village at the end of a narrow, winding mountain road
Oct 2019
This charming village with its stone houses was a nice reward after a long winding drive along narrow mountain roads. We enjoyed strolling through the alleys and observing the buildings. Note that the drive here is not for the faint of heart since in many places the road winds along a precipice and is wide enough only for a single car. One needs to park at the designated parking lot outside the village.

a Fabulous Village
Oct 2019
All of the cliches about stepping back in time are actually true - we'd say perhaps 400 years or so? (The Mozarabic church is actually about 1000 years old...) We wandered around and above the village soaking up the mountain vistas for hours - above the village we gathered wild chestnuts, walnuts and apples, which were everywhere. The road into the village is a little wild - a narrow one lane for kilometres where you pray you don't meet a returning car (we met only one as we were off-season).

Nice village, difficult to reach.

Nice village, called one of the "prettiest village in Spain". It is pretty indeed, but been familiar with the area, there are other villages as beautiful. I have to admit that the surroundings are a plus, but the downside is that it is very hard to get there, and it is hard to park. Need to visit? yes. It is much better than others? I'm not sure.

A remote village up in the clouds.
Jun 2018 • Friends
This village is so remote, if you make the trek to get here, you will be rewarded for your efforts mightily. This is by far one of the most unique places I’ve visited. The stone homes and streets are amazing. The views are incredible! The history of the village is fascinating. Besides the stone homes and streets that makes this place a spectacular sight, the church is another architectural delight. If you are ever in the region of Leon, this is a “must do”

It's a really romantic quaint old village in the mountains of Bierzo, old stone houses with little terraces or balcony in an ancient street and a very old church of the village, an antique gem, but surely difficult to leave there and of all in wintertimes; Nice for a visit in the mountains for a half day walk.

Worth it

A bit of a hair raising journey to get there, but well worth it. We went earlyish in the day, and had the village to ourselves. Went for a lovely walk in the mountains and returned to the village for a welcome drink. All very picturesque and well kept.

This is truly a hidden gem tucked away in the mountains of el Bierzo. It is rated one of the most beautiful towns/pueblos in Spain and a must visit.

in this location there is a small church built in the years 900, which unfortunately is closed most of the time. worth the visit just to meet this small town.

What a gorgeous place and worth the effort to get there! If you want a quiet place to get away from it all, this is it! The food in local restaurants is excellent and the solitude is really relaxing!

Small village high up the mountains.
our main reason for going was the valley of silence, a pleasant walk though the woods across the river and up the first part of the mountainside.
well named as all that one can hear is the river below the path.
The village itself was quiet but has at least two bars, one of which is attached to a hotel.Unfortunately we had booked another hotel for the night otherwise it would have been good to wake up on the mountain.

There is a beautiful but plain church with faded frescoes and a dethatched tower..

The road up is very narrow and, if like we did, you take the wrong turn leads to a road which has the mountain on one side and nothing on the other.
Would not have missed this place for the world and it is essential to take the path slightly above the village and look down onto the slate roves of the houses.
