Take the boat from Ascona. Approx 20 minutes. 40 francs for two adults return. You can stay for as long as you like. Returns every half hour up until around 6pm. The island is very serene. Restaurant with stunning views. Two large beers were 16 chf. Roman baths, ponds and trees and flowers from all over the world. Cobbled pathways... More

The gardens are lovely, but best enjoyed in peace and tranquility. We got the 09:25 ferry from Ascona, and it was quite noticeable when the 09:50 arrived and disgorged its passengers.

Ticino offers a micro-climate where palm and banana trees grow. The many botanical gardens in the area offer visitors the splendor of blooms and flora from around the world. The Isole di Brissago are only 10 minutes away by boat from Brissago. Unfortunately, many of the plants were severely damaged by a heavy snow fall in March, so the gardens... More

Taking a ship for 10 min from Ascona to the island for 51 CHF (2 adults and 2 children). We paid 8 CHF for the island entry ticket. Kids were happy. They found 13 meeting points for the finding treasure's game. We enjoyed the scenery and the botanical garden. Asian, African and Australian species. The danger's plants were interesting! Isola di Brissago is a wonderful island on the lago maggiore. We got there on boat from Ascona. We walked around the island following the treasure map with the kids and the baby (no problem with the pushchair). The flowers and landscapes are really amazing. The only restaurant of the island was overcrowded and we had to wait a lot... More

The island is very well kept and offers a wide range of flowers and plants from all over the world to enjoy. We loved it!! There is a treasure hunt game for kids and families that make it even more interesting for them. Bellissima Isola! Molto ben tenuta e con una grande varietà di piante e fiori da tutte le... More

While visiting the Italian Swiss lake region we took the short boat ride to this horticultural gem. Unfortunately we did not allow enough time to fully explore all of its beauty and wonders. Plants and flowers from all over the globe are here, and everyone one of them clearly marked as to its name, including in English. You should allow... More

This Swiss canton owned and maintained botanical garden on an island in Lake Maggiore is reached by the lake boat service. It is a magical place to rejuvenate your soul and not hurry through. The plantings and vistas are calming. The upkeep of the gardens and the villa on the island is typically Swiss perfect. We got there too late... More

Steeped in history, this island deserves a slow meander through its gardens and peaceful contemplation from the deckchairs on the beach. If you can stretch to a meal there, or even better a whole night's stay, even better!

This is a tiny island which was turned into a botanical garden over a period of hundred years. It used to belong to a baroness St. Lèger who then sold it when her fortunes fell. Take the boat ( round trip is ~20 CHF) for 15 minutes from Ascona. The iland itslef charges 8CHF for entry and there is a... More
