We weren't sure this would be a suitable place for a toddler in a pushchair. Elements were fantastic however as the last resident Princess Beatrice used a wheelchair so there were flat areas. There were also tons of steps to the keep and the ramparts....More

We have been here quite a few times and it's always fun. It's worth joining English Heritage so that you can come back whenever you like without feeling like you have to stay all day to get your money's worth.

Wow another rip off but not as severe as osborn house you want to see a castle then come to Kent. Leeds Castle on its own beats both of these two on the Isle of wight let alone the other castles we have here in...More

Our cousin wanted to go here on our short break, we were, quite honestly expecting a bunch of ruins, were we wrong, it was a wonderful place with loads of history, spent a good couple of hours soaking up the atmosphere, imagining Charles the first...More

We were really impressed with our visit and especially the dedicated staff who were helpful, friendly and exceeded our expectation. The castle itself is in excellent shape -clean, tidy and has an excellent tea room. The donkey centre was fun-sadly we didnt get to see...More

Was lovely to walk around looking at the small garden designed by Princess Beatrice. Loved the museum, really interesting, loads of little bits to look at. Small coffee shop, a little crammed with too many tables, but good service at normal English Heritage prices.

This castle is maintained by National Trust. It is located a short distance from downtown Newport. The place is very interesting and worth a visit. Some of the buildings are accessible and well preserved. The chapel is beautiful.

Not awfully large by the standard of many castles, but there is an interesting story none the less. The keep was closed when I visited due to high winds, which left a limited amount of other buildings to visit. The donkey-operated well winch was interesting,...More

From a rather uninspiring presence from the outside this castle is packed full of interest. First and foremost it is the embodiment of an english castle but it is not apparent until you get inside. Wonderful views from the ramparts showing exactly why it was...More

Hi Karen, unfortunately we do not have an audio tour at Carisbrooke, however there is plentiful interpretation on signage around the site giving info on what you are seeing. ^Matt

The ground level is spectacular but the steps do get a little steep although handrails are also there if that would help.

You could cheerfully spend all day here! There is so much to see and do. BUT; it's weather-dependent. There is at least as much outside as inside, so go on a dry day if you want to appreciate the full experience.
