This is a treasure of a place and is perfect for a relaxing stroll or just a rest as it takes you away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lifestyles. Good for individuals, couples or families. The setting is so attractive with a range of plants and flowers displayed in different types of gardens. The entry cost is... More

Hi thanks for this review. Autumn is always a difficult time. As soon as we tidy up leaves they drop of again and also we are working around gardens and putting them to bed for the Winter. I thought the winter colour was exceptional this year! Hope you pop by in the Spring as we are planting another 20,000 bulbs... More

Easy to find, plenty of parking and affordable entry. In fact this is a gardeners heaven with something for all the family. Lots of design ideas in small show. tableaux as you walk through sunflower street. Even a collection of animals, well looked after and some even rare. The manor house and stables are impressive with historical interest and the... More

It has been several years since i last visited here and some of the gardens look like they have not been touched for a long time. These used to be beautiful and now tired and run down. Other gardens have been created that are very nice. Not sure how I feel about the animals I'm inclined to think they should... More

Dear Kim, we are very disappointed with your review and I can assure you all gardens are being maintained on a regular basis. Gardening is complex and it is not possible to have all gardens looking pristine all the time as nature does not work like that. The Faerie garden is a new project which is not finished and is... Love Capel Manor, beautiful gardens great ideas. I used the ideas from the displays in my own garden. Staff friendly and helpful; you can purchase plants for your own garden

A place I have passed on many occasions and never visited, but seeing what was there on line we decided to visit. This is a lovely place with many gardens, I think they claim 60 but we soon lost count. There are garden's in many styles including a lovely Japanese garden, a garden around a representation of Vincen Van Gogh's... More

Went with my wife and children of 9 and 7 and they enjoyed walking around the gardens and having a ice cream . Spent around 4 hours there , on a nice day perfect for a picnic and most important of all it has lots of poker stops and gyms. It costs £13.50 for a family of 2 adults and... More

Arrived for a classic/vintage car show, plenty to see and the surrounding gardens were very interesting. We returned the following day to explore the gardens and animal enclosures a bit more. Lovely walks through the estate. You could hear traffic from the nearby M25 but it was mainly a low hum, not intrusive in any way, plenty of birdsong to... More

Hi Paul,

I am the principal at Capel Manor college and we were very concerned with and upset about your comments posted on trip advisor. As you can see we generally attract very good comments and your comments are quite at variance with others visiting at the same time.

I am not sure if you realise that we are a charity and we rely on income from visitors to help us offer education and training to over 2,000 students.

as I am sure you are aware any garden is a living thing and as such has moods and periods when it is being prepared or revitalised.

As it happens I am puzzled by some of your comments. For exam[le there is no record of the Japanese garden being closed since its refurbishment was completed several weeks ago so I would be interested in when you visited and why you thought it was closed (the senior gardener on duty on Sunday 5th and other staff are quite clear that the Japanese garden was open on that day.

There is a programme for dead heading roses where appropriate and we are following this. Also some ramblers climbers and rugosa's are deliberately left as they produce hips which are ornamental in the autumn.

A lot of he gardens are sponsored and also won medals at Chelsea. Your comment re clashing colours is subjective and personal and one of the things we pride ourselves on is our diversity and the fact that everyone seems to find something they like when they visit. We are also surprised about your comment that the gardens are repetitive as this is the exact opposite to the normal comments.

Also we have just experienced a heat wave and that has put strain on the gardens.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to comment and would be happy to meet you sometime to explain more about what we are doing and what we hope to achieve.

best wishes
