The Lightbox gallery and museum is one of the most fun and exciting cultural spaces in the South East. Three galleries host a range of exhibitions from contemporary art to nationally famous artists which change regularly. The building is also home to the interactive museum 'Woking's Story', a canal-side Cafe and a unique Gift Shop. Venue hire is available and the building is fully accessible.

Us and the kids loved this place - particularly the lovely cafe. We did an afternoon crafts session, which was free, and made cute badges. Great little spot in Woking

A mix of civic museum and Art Gallery. The Woking story contains a mix of interesting and interactive displays for children. Lots about the railway, the necropolis the Mosque (first in Britain) and other items of interest. Also a couple of Art galleries with various constantly changing exhibitions exhibits. There is also a smaller room usually with some local art... More

Woking is not culturally sublime but the Lightbox is. A signature building, which houses Galleries, Displays and Events, is an oasis right in the centre of town. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it is worth a visit - even going out of your way!

I only discovered this place in the last couple of years, but have since been back several times, with my teenage daughter, once with a friend's primary-aged children, and a couple of times to meet friends for a light lunch, catch-up over a cup of tea and a browse around the galleries and shop. Exhibitions change regularly so it's worth... More

I'd been driving through Woking for years past this place without realising what it was. With a couple of hours to spend in Woking centre, we decided to see what the Lightbox was. And what an unexpected delight! There's the Woking Museum full of truly interesting and not too ancient history includes displays about Brookwood Cemetery (utterly fascinating) as well... More

Visited to see the Henry Moore and The Ingram Collection exhibtions, which were both very good. We bought an annual pass for £5 as we will probably return

The building is an odd piece of architecture: it sits on an uncomfortably narrow piece of land, but makes the best of what it's got. The various exhibitions (which change regularly), and the permanent displays, cover both the history of the local are, and local arts, and outside considerations in the arts. Worth a visit.

Built on a very difficult site next to the town centre and WWF the museum is a must to visit and a haven of sanity once the shopping experience of central Woking has done its best to tire you out. With regular exhibitions and a great cafe/restaurant it belies it's definition as a museum. Not stuffy and whispering is not... More

Although the main gallery was closed ( in preparation for an upcoming Henry Moore show ), the upper gallery had a small, but excellent exhibition devoted to the Camden Town Group of artists ( Sickert, Gilman, Gore etc ) with paintings on loan from Leeds City Art Gallery. Nice selection of snacks and drinks in the cafe and a shop... More
