Great afternoon out I caught the new ferry across and returned on the old Had a quick look around on the island, including the guns above the ferry port from the second world war. Really interesting.

It's the only way to get to Bell Island! And it's cash only! You only pay the fare one way and I recommend getting there 30 minutes before the scheduled ferry departure. You'll need to pay and line up ahead of time. The newer ferry...More

Even though there is a new ferry on the run there are often delays. Make sure you check departure and return times.

Beautiful new boat; lots of room inside and out. No canteen service though (Wednesday - Regatta Day). The lounges are great and lots of viewing areas. Only 20 minutes or less to cross; slower unloading, but that's OK!!!! Bell Island is a beautiful island; so...More

The ferry departed right on time both going from and coming back to Portugal Cove. I was impressed by the guys that load the vehicles on. They fit 3 more vehicles on behind us when I thought we had to have been the last ones....More
