We recently stopped in to the RFM as we were visiting the Northern Neck. This small museum is well appointed with wonderful historical artifacts, photographs and dioramas of the commercial fishing industry especially that surrounding Menhaden. There is a nice gift shop complete with cookbooks, clothing and children's memorabilia. We also took a tour of the restored 1875 Walker House... More

We stopped here on our way to a family vacation. My dad is a big fan of fishing and fishing related things so I thought this would be a great museum for him. We were not disappointed. The docents were fantastic and took us on a tour of the boat building area as well as the model train display -... More

We stopped by well before the museum opened because we were on our way out of town, but still got to see a large variety of sailing vessels, accompanied by interpretive signs. Lovely location. Next trip we will get there during business hours.

This best part of this tour was taking the boat out on the river! Seeing Reedville by boat getting the history of the area by a local was awesome. Would recommend a stop here any day

The Fisherman's Museum in Reedville is worth a visit. It has a great display of local fishing life and diorama's of life in Reedville. They also have a full size replica of John Smith's boat that sailed the Chesapeake Bay.

Very informative and the objects collected from years past were intriguing. The slideshow presentation showed us the things we had seen and some we had not in the previous days so that we could go out and explore more.

This is a very interesting place to visit with knowledgeable staff to answer questions and talk about the local history. I especially found the display on the traveling Show Boats that used to visit the area. Never knew much about their history or popularity.

We spend a lovely morning visiting this tiny gem. The museum has several buildings: the museum itself which houses the history of the Town. It also has a great feature on the original floating show boats that went up and down that river that were the basis for the book and stage play Show Boat. We had a great docent,... More

Our group of a dozen were eager to see what we had heard so much about. It is a seasonal operation, and in the off times they require reservations to open up. It took several emails over a few months to get a response, when I was told that I had been on the books for awhile. I called and... More

Great history of the town, the railroad, the fishing industry, and boating on the Bay. Exhibits change regularly. Train exhibit is so cool for children and adults. Don't think it is going to be a quick visit. Leave yourself a few hours to cover it all.
