The Museum is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (with the exception of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day and New Year's Day). We are located in the Courthouse area in the Merchant Square Building across from the Pavilion. Our 1800 sq, foot facility contains the Museum, which houses our County's history, beginning with early Native Americans and continuing on through the Civil War. It is also home to a research library that is open to the general public. Guided tours for groups are available upon request.

It's free, so that's good. Lacking in artifacts and many many things to read. Too much to read really. Could probably spend a couple hours, but we couldn't get through it all.

This small museum in a small town is a hidden gem: it has interesting artifacts of the local hisotry, and great sources of local genealogy. The librarian was exteremely knowledgeable and helpful, especially about the Germanna history. A visit to this nice facility is free.

Not a lot to see, lots of reading material but not many artifacts to see, could see the entire museum in 15 minutes.

Nice little museum. They now offer trolley tours (check for days and times - we were on the "test runs" so it was only on Saturday) There will be a charge for the ride but price was not yet set. The park ranger gave an interesting tour and explained the battle well.

Great exhibits of the local area and helpful staff. Easy parking and free. This area got really beaten up during the Civil War, so the exhibits are mostly depressing and certainly remind one of the futility of all the fighting and killing.

I woke up the nice little old lady who works this museum. Cost $2. They had old 150th tees and hats for $5 with tax, trying to get rid of them. No sound, you could hear a pin drop and it was almost as if I was bothering her and woke her up. How does this place stay in business?... More

We were greeted by a very friendly museum hostess who even looked up the answer to a question we had. As a local, she knew a lot about the names of old areas and their newer names. She seemed very interested in being at the museum. There is plenty to read--lots of posters to explain the progression of the battles... More
