There are plenty of hiking trails to choose from, but we did a sunny stroll along the Chesapeake Bay instead. Useful visitors station with lots of area maps and brochures. Hot Tuna a perfect choice for dinner from there, see my separate review.

Although I felt the Park should have been free as opposed to $7, it was still a nice park. You can camp, walk the trails or see the beach. There is a small museum. I was delighted to see postcards in the adjacent “Camp Store”.More

In Virginia less than half of the funds needed to operate our state parks come from state tax dollars. Every fee we collect goes to maintaining our parks. I like to explain that tax dollars help ensure there is a park and folks that visit...More

The trail walks are through a wooded area with quiet water, it is lovely Virginia vegetation at its finest. Trails are mostly not paved and can be challenging for those of us who are not used to hiking. Worth the effort. Well marked, maps available....More

Great view of where the Chesapeake flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Easy to imagine the Jamestown Settlers landing here first.

This is one of the best state parks I've ever been to. There are two sides to this park. One is on the ocean and a great place to swim and the otherside is just great hiking. Most importantly they allow dogs on leashes. We...More

My wife and I have been RVers for a number of years. During Spring Break we traveled to Maryland's Eastern Shore and down the Atlantic Coast. What a pleasant surprise when we pulled into First Landing! Sheltered RV camping spots among the dunes of Virginia...More

We were told to try this park for a hiking adventure. There are several hiking trails of varying difficulty. There are lots of opportunities to view heron, egrets, osprey and other birds along the trails. It was a very lovely experience!

An amazing gem. Easy access to the beach and getting your toes wet in the Bay/Ocean (technically the Atlantic but feels more like the Chesapeake). More to explore than just the beach but it's always my favorite.

We only explored the Cyprus trail here, not the historic part of the park, but the trail was beautiful, with boardwalks directly through the swamp. Trails are very easy with a nice visitor canter and bathrooms at the trailheads.

We walked a different trail than we usually hike. Trails are well marked and maintained. It is a great place to enjoy the outdoors and commune with nature. When we finished, we visited the information center. One ranger was on his way out for lunch,...More

Just a note about dogs: Between Memorial Day and Labor Day they can only be on the beach before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. and have to be on a leash. The leash part is pretty lax as long as they are under control.
