Since we visited this park and camped here last summer, we liked it so much we camped here again. I think this is going to be our annual camping trip from now. We camp in an RV so we like the Electric and Water hook-up...More

Great place to hike multiple trails and log some miles. Several options let you hike easier wooded trails to beach side paths, lots of wildlife to see. Good beach to enjoy and the ability to rent small watercraft make this a great place to frequent....More

Not even mentioning the significance of this location as a footstep towards today's America. This is a beautiful State park located in a city. You get the best of both worlds. Enjoy the water, beaches, trails and quiet of the state park then, take a...More

Camped here with 3 young adults in two tents for two nights. It was amazing being so close to the beach. A short walk from our campsite to the boardwalk that crossed the dunes took us to a beautiful beach on the bay. Preferred swimming...More

First Landing is first rate. Great beach on the Chesapeake, very clean and gentler surf than the Atlantic. After spending some time at the beach, head over to walk the couple miles of the bald cypress trail to see the Spanish moss draped cypress in...More

We drove from a small restaurant on Shore Drive (Leaping Lizard) over to the First Landing State Park for a cool afternoon hike. We could easily have just hiked on the beach and seen more than enough beauty. But we wanted the scent of Virginia...More

I am planning a trip with my family. We would like to spend about a week tent camping. How is the shower/ bathroom situation?? is there an addition cost to shower? I also see the site says there are W/D available. Are they still in working order?

I'll be in the area in late April. Hopefully the weather will be nice by then. Is it safe to walk through the park alone as a female?

Yes, very safe. I've never heard of any problems at this park, and I have lived here my whole life. I personally would not hesitate to go through the park by myself. Come and enjoy!

Hi, we are a group of 4 families who'd like to visit next summer. Can someone who's visited recommend a group of sites that are shady, close to the bathrooms, and are on the roomier side for our big group?
